Help Elect Gordon McLaughlin for District Attorney
Dedicated to Safety for All
Gordon received his Juris Doctor at the University of Colorado after completing his undergraduate studies at Cornell University. As former Deputy District Attorney here in Larimer and Jackson Counties, and veteran of other Colorado DA offices, Gordon strives to uphold safety for all. Most recently serving as the lead prosecutor for the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force, he oversaw cases involving large scale methamphetamine and heroine distribution operations that significantly impacted our community safety. Involving himself in outreach efforts to increase awareness on issues like domestic violence, crimes against the elderly, and cyberbullying, Gordon takes the initiative to serve those among us who are the most vulnerable.
Gordon’s approach to criminal justice is collaborative and forward-thinking. He has effectively directed low-level cases toward rehabilitative treatment, helping to provide accountability and not just punishment. He understands that these efforts help to keep at-risk individuals out of the criminal system, teaching accountability while helping them to build productive lives and contribute to their families and the community. This leads to lower recidivism - less crime - and therefore a safer community for us all.
Moving Criminal Justice into the 21st Century
Gordon McLaughlin knows that social justice and criminal justice do not need to be opposed. He is keenly aware of the inequalities and injustices faced by people of color and other underserved members of our society. Gordon understands that to truly serve our community, there must be justice and equality for all.
As the next District Attorney of Colorado’s 8th Judicial District, Gordon plans to increase transparency and accountability in our justice system, allowing public review of data on charging, convictions, and sentencing outcomes. Only then will we be able to identify where our community’s law enforcement and court system is effective, where it isn’t, and how we can improve it for the benefit and safety of everyone.
